January 2012 – New Year, New Gear, Fresh Ears

Things are ramping up to be a big year here at company. Lots in store for the studio sonically, visually and “functionally”.

Music:
Let’s start with all the work we’ve been doing with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson…We’ve been tracking Miguel doing loads of strings and orchestra arrangements for upcoming albums by The Gaslamp Killer, Dark Angels (Deantoni Parks and Nicci Caspar), Dexter Story. Many exciting projects for Miguel (and us!) on the horizon this year as well.

On another note, we recently launched Miguel’s website as well (we wear many hats here). Miguel has played on over 300 albums for a wide range of artists and we attempted to capture that essence with his website. Check it out.

Next up is Joey Dosik. We’ve done a stack of all-analog tracks with Joey starting back in the late fall. The songs sound spot-on and are coming along great and we expect him to start rolling out these tunes in 7″ form (!) by this spring. More on that later.

The Star Maps record has been mastered by Mark Chalecki for release this coming spring. Another analog-recorded record done all here at company. Very happy with the way this one turned out.

Mixed a couple tracks for Damin Suarez and his band Go West Young Man. Sounding great and ready for early February mastering.

The Damselles & The TC4 were in for a few days tracking a new record with former Capitol Records engineer Paul Smith. We think it went well! Expect a new release in the coming year.
